Internship Awareness Month

April is Internship Awareness Month. We deeply value the fresh perspectives, innovative ideas, and hard work that interns bring to the defense space. Therefore, we’d like to highlight our two interns who help to keep our network running smoothly.

Internships across the Defense Ecosystem

We have put together a web page dedicated to showcasing workforce development opportunities within the AFRL and the broader defense ecosystem. Students and young professionals will find a variety of links that lead them to internships and collaborative projects across the world of defense research and technology.

Explore a diverse range of opportunities, from engineering and science to cybersecurity and logistics. Our goal is to connect talented individuals with the leading programs offered by the AFRL and other defense agencies, fostering a collaborative environment where innovation and skill development flourish.

If you would like to share in advertising the internships and other workforce development opportunities that exist in your organization, please reach out to Cody Clem.

Partner Spotlight

Copper Mountain Technologies logo
Copper Mountain Technologies (CMT) pioneered metrology-grade USB vector network analyzers (VNAs) in 2011 and continues to drive industry change through customer-focused solutions, including a broad range of VNAs, frequency extenders, calibration kits, accessories, and integrated solutions.

CMT’s product line includes over 30 instruments and VNA solutions in configurations up to 16-ports, measuring in frequency ranges up to 330 GHz, with options for direct receiver access, frequency extension, and software compatibility for Windows and Linux OS. Software features such as Time Domain with Gating, Advanced TRL Calibration, and Scalar and Vector Mixer Measurements are available at no extra charge. CMT network analyzers are ideal for classified applications because they have completely volatile memory and are already in use at NASA, Raytheon, CERN, and other defense/security organizations.

CMT offers the best customer value through an unparalleled combination of price, performance, and portability, which has expanded VNA use to new industries and applications. Our expert engineers work as an extension of your team, helping users complete unique and complex projects. CMT is ISO 9001:2015 certified with a calibration laboratory that is accredited to ISO/IEC 17025 (2017) and satisfies ANSI/NCSL Z540-1994-1. Support for third party calibration is also available.

Collaboration Opportunity

SPiN logo

Space Products and Innovation Inc. (SPiN), a satellite technology company based in Albuquerque, NM, seeks to connect with universities and aerospace companies across the Midwest. SPiN offers modularity solutions for satellite manufacturers through the Multipurpose Adapter Generic Interface Connector (MA61C), a universal adapter that joins incompatible satellite components. The MA61C are combination hardware/software adapters and, therefore, not only connect physical components but also allow them to “communicate” with each other by routing data between their interfaces.

SPiN is looking to introduce its technology to universities with CubeSat programs so these projects can be completed more quickly, and students can learn to build satellites with these technologies. SPiN is also interested in collaborating with PIs who conduct research in space manufacturing.

If you’re interested in connecting or bringing this technology to your university program, contact Tal Azoulay, SPiN’s Vice President of Business Development.

Purdue Energetics Research Center – Energetics Talent Showcase

PERC-ETS logo
PERC-ETS is a conference to connect talented, clearable students and postdocs to the defense community. Participants will have the opportunity to present their work to an audience of professionals from across government and industry. The event is open to all ITAR-eligible persons. ITAR-eligible postdocs and BS, MS, and PhD students with energetics research experience are invited to present. While students at any point in their career can participate, priority will be given to those who are within 1.5 years of graduating.

Prior to the conference, government and industry professionals will be provided with a program that includes each student’s resume and a project abstract. These booklets will facilitate connections between potential employers and students of interest.
